Kickstarter | Anne's Jump-Shot @ Harun Mehmedinovic's Bloodhoney* Photography Book
/Updated Wednesday, Nov. 28 10:30 am! We’ve arrived ahead of schedule, crossing the $15,000 goal this morning, when I was estimating tonight midnight. Now we press on to $25,000!! Congrats to everybody who has gotten behind this wonderful campaign. Power to the people — and special thanks to the second $1000 donor who hit us out of the blue this morning. I had intended to be the one to put Harun over the $15,000 but I’m so pleased to step aside for this person. We will feature both $1000 donors on AOC, if s(he) wishes. xoxo Anne
Previously Monday night:
I so love then and now stories, when well-deserved success is on the horizon and the artistic cream is rising to the top. Last Monday, I thankfully intercepted a post on my FB home page regarding Harun Mehmedinovic’s Kickstarter campaign.
Admittedly, I was on a bit of a guilt trip with Harun, having reached out to him for an interview after seeing his work on Vogue Italia -- and then going awol, being in over my head with work and political activist obligations.
Unlike several low-level photographers who have kicked my beautful butt recently for not posting their editorials sooner or at all, Harun was so gracious with me. (I kid you not. Not only has my derriere been kicked for not posting soon enough, I’ve been dismissed as a sexual prude — yes ME — for refusing to publish sensual images of 14 year old girls. And this comes from a ‘friend’ who tells me I must fight the Taliban with his sexy images of young girls who want to be models when they grow up. Must not!)
WE Went to Work for Harun Memmedinovic on Kickstarter
When I saw this opportunity to clear my own conscience for lack of follow-through and support such a talented artist as Harun Mehmedinovic, WE went to work.
I say WE, because I so love charts. And from the moment I wrote Kickstarter: Anne Loves Harun Mehmedinovic’s Bloodhoney* Seance, the charts began moving. Today, I will really start pounding the pavement for this project, so that Harun moves not only through his $15,000 goal — which is enough to print 200 copies of this fabulous book, but raises $25,000 for 500 copies.
Chariots of Fire | The Unyielding Pursuit of Excellence
Before I sound like a wildly egotistical person — which I am in a ‘Chariots of Fire’ sort of way — let me be the first to say that the correlation between pledges to Harun’s campaign and OUR involvement in it may be purely coincidental. The fact that pldeges shot up the days the campaign was featured on AOC’s front page, and then leveled off some — but still excellent — may be pure coincidence. Being the business manager type that I am, I asked Harun if the campaign had been featured on Kickstarter. The answer is ‘no’.
Several of us have been spreading the Harun Mehmedinovic love on Facebook — which is driving about 1/3 of the contributions so far. But I think AOC can hold our head very proudly here, if my business acumen at reading charts is worth a damn. AOC entered Harum’s campaign on Nov. 19, one week ago.

Anne’s Jump-shot …
Some people know to quit when they are ahead, take a bow and shut up. I’ve never acquired those life skills, so I’m putting myself out there again for Harun. PLEASE DON’T EMBARRASS ME or cut me down to size. I want us to take Harun over $15,000 by Wed. night. PRETTY PLEASE!!!! Then we move on to get 500 copies of this fantastic bit of artistry published — not 200 copies. That cost is $25,000.
I’m testing the waters here on using AOC as a VERY SELECTIVE fundraising partner for the most special projects that deserve our support. They are few and far between, but everyone who has seen Harum’s masterful images is gushing. I’ve backed a super talented guy.
I think the analogy is all screwed up here because ‘Chariots of Fire’ is about track and yours truly played basketball. Harun is the main guy in this event, so I should be the guard, right? But I was the center. Let me see about the power forward.
In this story, I’ll take it. The power forward is known for playing with her back to the basket, guarding it(hint$$$, hint$$$) and also having a good mid-range jump-shot.
… As the Power Forward
As Harum knows, I’ve had the jump-shot vision in my brain since Saturday night. I want to take the jump-shot, so for heavens sake, let me hit it, OK — my dear friends, readers and ex-boyfriends. (They ALL read me religiously!) Wallets out guys!
Anne of Carversville is totally devoted to the pursuit of excellence. We’re looking at it with Harun Mehmedinovic’s Bloodhoney* coffee table book and stories of people who escaped their daily lives and went on an adventure. Will you join me, please? Pretty please? I so love a winner and this guy has so much talent and art in his soul. ~ Anne
