Quickies: Sam Bompas & Harry Parr Jellymongers | Berkeley Pret-a-Portea | Jewelry with Wings

Neferti’s Jelly Breast

Brits Sam Bompas and Harry Parr have been making jelly since 2004 as Jellymongers. An amazed public describes them as scientists, architects and/or chefs.

Prior to starting his jelly company Sam Bompas had tried his hand a few different professions. “I worked in financial marketing which was not much fun at all, and prior to that as a researcher for Liberal Democrat MP Simon Hughes and prior to that I ran an unsuccessful escort agency,” he says.

“No one was making jelly so there was an obvious gap in the market. Our inspiration came from 2 sources: childhood nostalgia and the knowledge that England used to be famous in the culinary world for two things - jelly and roasting. It was time to bring back fine English jellies!” Bompas says. via INDESIGNLIVE

Berkeley Pret-a-Portea

Tea is again served at London’s The Berkeley, with its cake collection inspired by the fall/winter 2011-2012 collections. British Vogue cites Stella McCartney’s spot dress, Miu Miu’s golden glitter shoes, Lanvin’s elegant draped capes, Sonia Rykiel’s stripes and Burberry’s surgary trench as a partial list of its key looks.

Prêt-à-Portea is served in The Caramel Room at The Berkeley from 1 to 6pm every day, priced at £36.50 (£46.50 including a glass of Laurent Perrier Champagne).

Fairy Tale Vogue Italia

In this play on fairy tales and everyday life, nature plays an important role as an inspiration. Jewelry is a key expression of serendipidity this season from butterflies to dragonflies and plant-world petals.

A garland of delicate violets or passionate orchids in bright enamels, multi-colored butterflies and dragonflies to be worn in the hair, bluebells and frogs used to decorate a fanciful ankle boot, animal-print rings and bracelets in pavé or flowering necklaces.
