Arise! Will Our Young Women Join Anita Hill, Gloria Steinem & Eve Ensler to Fight the Republican War on Women? AOC Sexual Politics
Anne here, very excited to be on my way to New York. Have my press credentials & laptop for ‘live’ blogging from the media pool. Simply can’t believe that I will be in the media room w/Gloria Steinem, Eve Ensler, Anita Hill and all these great women who have fought so hard for women’s rights.
It’s perfect timing, as the Republicans pass a 7th bill that says pregnant women having a miscarriage — who are already distraught over their health emergencies — can die in the emergency rooms of American hospitals.
Our nation no longer has an obligation to save its women, say the Republicans.
In Utah, miscarriage almost became a felony in 2010 except for the governor’s veto.
Anita Hill’s Courage
20 Years After Clarence Thomas, Anita Hill Is ‘Reimaging Equality’ AOC Sexual Politics
Anita Hill was smeared after the testimony “as a a man-hater, a crusading leftist, a feminist zealot, a spurned woman bent on revenge, and a delusional spinster unhinged by thwarted lust for her former boss, among other slurs—a “deranged liar,” as author David Brock wrote later in recounting the ways he distorted the truth in his bestseller The Real Anita Hill, a hatchet job that memorably described the reserved Hill as “a little bit nutty and a little bit slutty.”’
David Brock Anita Hill Apology
In a later book ‘Blinded by the Right’, Brock apologised for his actions, but the deed was done. Brock admits that his allegations about Anita Hill weren’t confirmed, double-sourced and were pure propaganda for the right wing. He employed no ethical journalistic standards in writing his attack against her.
Marking Miscarriage a Felony
Utah Patriarchy Moves to Criminalize Miscarriage AOC Sexual Politics 3/5/2011
Some people don’t believe that American women shouldn’t be charged for having a miscarriage. They argue that the burden of proof is on the women to prove that she wasn’t negligent during her pregnancy. The original language in Wimmer’s bill did criminalize iscarriage, in the most aggressive move against American women yet.
Any husband or the state could prosecute a woman who was negligent in his eyes, or a mother-in-law or sister’s eyes — really anyone — for any behavior that theoretically triggered a miscarriage. Presumably any husband who believed that his wife behaved irresponsibly in any way, thus inducing a miscarriage as if it’s typically a woman’s fault, could put her in jail for many years.
The state and her husband are in charge of a woman’s body in Utah. Woman is the incubator, nothing more, among Utah politicians. She might as well be a cow. Individual rights don’t belong to women in Utah, but to an embryo or fetus.
Any American woman of any age should think twice about accepting a job in the state of Utah.
