We have a fantabulous editorial from Elle Norway. Aleksandra Nilsen is captured by Asa Tallgard in ‘Peace & Love’, a mostly white story styled by fashion director Petra Middelthon for the June 2011 issue of Elle Norway. 

I’ve been very critical of the ‘new’ Vogue Paris, believing that it lacks imagination and sensuality. It isn’t just the lions — photoshopped in or not — that make this editorial special. It pulsates with drama, attitude, and intimacy, compared to the very listless Gisele by Inez & Vinoodh for Vogue Paris April 2011.

If you are captivated by the images of Aleksandra Nilsen with the lions, you will love the images of Gregory Colbert for the ‘Ashes and Snow’ project. There is no photoshopping in these images — an early accusation of Colbert’s work. In reality, it took as long as two years to get humans and animals comfortable enough with each other to create these stupendously emotional and moving images.
