Piers Morgan Quits as Co-Host of Good Morning Britain After Meghan On Air Row
/TV host Piers Morgan tends to go after women more than men — America’s 45th president being an exception to the rule. Morgan was first a Trump love child but eventually became a fierce critic of the now-defeated president.
But given Meghan Markle’s progressive values and absolute distaste for US President Donald Trump, it’s no wonder she “ghosted” her Twitter fan Piers Morgan. Her father-in-law Prince Charles wasn’t too keen on Trump either.
On Tuesday Morgan’s on-air spectacle over Meghan Markle’s comments in her Oprah Winfrey March 8 interview on CBS resulted in him quitting his job.
Listening to ugly rants early in the morning is absolutely not the way any doctor would advise you to start your day. In fact, a much more influential media star in AOC’s world Edward Enninful, editor-in-chief of British Vogue just launched an April edition devoted to finding JOY.
No Morning Joy in Britain with Piers Morgan in Charge
No morning joy was in store for viewers of Good Morning Britan, after Piers Morgan went straight for Meghan Markle’s jugular vein, saying Monday he "didn't believe a word" the duchess had told Oprah Winfrey about her mental health in her CBS Sunday night interview. Morgan insisted Meghan’s assertion that she felt suicidal was bogus, as was her claim — reinforced by Prince Harry — that “the firm” would not assist her in any way in getting treatment for her frightening, suicidal desires, observed in dramatic, private scenes by Prince Harry.
For AOC readers, this is exactly what Piers Morgan said: on air Monday ” I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she said, Meghan Markle. I wouldn’t believe it if she read me a weather report.”
The Washington Post asserts that Morgan also “questioned whether the comments made about the skin color of biracial Meghan’s unborn child were necessarily racist.” Refusing to name the source of the concerns, both Meghan and Harry confirmed that the remarks were made to Harry before the wedding and the focus was on how dark-skinned Harry’s children could be. Tbe question is one of genetics and mathematical probability.
Morgan did issue a partial retraction of Monday’s comments on air Tuesday, before the big Tuesday blowup. “[It was] not for me to question if she felt suicidal.” Morgan clarified that he didn't intend to express doubt over the reality of her feelings, but that he was skeptical of her report about the palace's reported reaction to them: “My real concern was a disbelief, frankly…that she went to a senior member of the royal household and told them she was suicidal and was told she could not have any help because it would be a bad look for the family.”
Piers Morgan Is Apparently Quite Fragile When the Tables Turn on Him
Morgan’s comments prompted the big Tuesday row from weather presenter Alex Beresford, who criticised his colleague by going for the jugular himself. “I understand you don’t like Meghan Markle. You made it so clear a number of times,” Beresford said. He then amplified his criticisms, saying that he understood Meghan and Morgan had once known each other, and Meghan cut off her relationship with him.
Beresford was referencing the apparent fact that Meghan Markle “ghosted” Morgan after meeting Prince Harry.
In 2015 Piers Morgan followed Meghan Markle on Twitter, as a fan of her US TV show ‘Suits’. Markle responded with a short DM on Nov. 9, 2015, writing “Well hello there - thanks for the follow. Big fan of yours!”
Presumably Piers Morgan thought this meant they were besties for life.
Piers Morgan Loved Donald Trump | Meghan Markle Had No Time for the US President
Morgan might have considered the fact that his deep affection for Donald Trump, who he famously called “delicious” impacted Markle’s attitude about him. On election eve in November 2016, Piers Morgan told anyone who would listen that he had predicted Hillary’s defeat. Taking to Twitter, Morgan said "you should have listened to your Uncle Piers".
In his position as editor-at-large for The Daily Mail, Morgan became a defacto publicist for Trump, writing on September 11, 2015: My VERY revealing Donald diaries: PIERS MORGAN's most intimate conversations with Trump offer a unrivalled insight into the man who may soon be US President .
When President Donald Trump finally got his day at Buckingham Palace in June, 2019, neither Meghan nor Harry were present to receive him at the state dinner. Trump was a frequent and lethal critic of Meghan Markle, and a logical mind like AOC’s understands totally why Meghan Markle — a well-known progressive activist — lost her interest in Piers Morgan, give his love affair and deep devotion to Trump.
Returning to the Tuesday London on-air debacle, Morgan became so irritated with Beresford raising this topic of his being “ghosted” by Markle — and reminding Morgan that the Duchess of Sussex had no obligations to him — that the host walked off the set in a fury, returning 10 minutes later.
As Chris Ship , ITV NEWS Royal Editor Tweeted: “Surely Piers knows if you give it, you gotta be able to take it?” Sure sounds like Trumpian behavior to AOC by Piers Morgan — who is probaby burning up the phone lines in Mar-a-Lago as we speak.
ITV Cut the Morgan Cord With a Sharp Knife 41,000 Complaints Later
Hours later, ITV abruptly made a short announcement concerns the status of Piers Morgan.
"Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain," ITV said in a short statement. "ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add."
Earlier in the day Tuesday, 41,000 complaints had been lodged against Piers Morgan with Ofcom, the UK's communications regulator — making it what right-wingers called one of the biggest examples of cancel culture in action ever. Ofcom said that it was launching an investigation into Morgan’s comments about the Duchess of Sussex.
