Pitanga stars in this special edition of Vogue Brasil that celebrates the joy, sophistication and unique blend of Copacabana, one of Rio de Janeiro's most traditional neighborhoods. The daughter lived for much of her life with her father and stepmother, the federal deputy Benedita da Silva, in the community of Chapéu Mangueira, in the neighborhood of Leme, next to Copacabana.

The Pitangas at Princeton, November 2024

In November 2024, Antonio and Camila Pitanga were at Brazil LAB at Princeton University for the US premiere of ‘Malês. The film, directed by Antonio Pitanga, vividly depicts the struggles of Black men and women in 19th-century Bahia, with a specific focus on the largest organized uprising of enslaved people in Brazilian history. Led by Muslim Africans during Ramadan, the rebellion mobilized enslaved and free Black communities in Salvador to challenge the institution of slavery.

On 10 December, Human Rights Day 2015, UN Women Brazil announced the nomination of actress Camila Pitanga as its first National Ambassador. The Brazilian actor became the first Latin American celebrity to become a public spokesperson for UN Women and she continues in the role today.
