Anok Marial Poses in 'Bang Bang' for LadyGunn Magazine Lensed by Vinyet Feliubadaló
/Rising model Anok Marial credits Sudan and Kenya in her background. Googling to see if more news of her background is available, I’m stopped in my tracks to read that the UN is closing its refugee camps in Kenya.
Let me say no more on that topic — except that Dadaab and Kakuma have been home to some of the most prominent model names we all know today. Many of the models living in these camps emigrated with their families — primarily, but not exclusively — to Australia and also America.
The US announced in May that we are sending special ops forces back into Somalia, a major source of refugee migration, along with South Sudan.
Much of the history of AOC is caught up in these geopolitical events — what became the Battle of Mogadishu in October 1993 and the death of uber-talented photographer Dan Eldon, who was stoned to death in Mogadishu on July 12, 1993.
This all happened before 2007, when AOC was born. But the story of how interwoven events came to be known is very incredible. And Dan Eldon is at the center of the vortex.
Alright Anok Marial — rising model star — let’s get back to you. As you can see, Anne of Carversville is not your typical fashion website. I’m adding three more images of Anok from IG as minor amends for the geopolitical, personal life digression.
Marial appears in Ladygunn Magazine, lensed by Barcelona-based Vinyet Feliubadaló [IG]. I liked Anok’s images because a deep and fierce wisdom lies in her eyes. She has the very recognizable to me “look” of a spirit deeply-embedded in life’s truths. Clers Bow styles the fashion story ‘Bang Bang’, and you can see more at Lady Gunn Magazine.
