What isn’t cold is the reminder that stones are believed to carry and transmit their own energies, driven by molecular composition — and this fashion story heavy on jewelry is narrating this delicate balance in a more folkloric voice.

Science v. Folklore

To be clear, science has not been able to confirm the energy properties and claims associated with these stones to date. However, these gemstone beliefs are deeply rooted in antiquity and even in religious traditions. And it’s possible that scientific discovery born of the human mind hasn’t yet caught up with Gaia’s design skills.

An example for Anne of Carversville of Gaia v. the scientists is ancestral memory in elephants, no longer considered to be a hocus pocus idea.

Equally important in claims about gemstones is the placebo effect — common and thoroughly studied in major medical studies. Nearly all patients improve their symptoms in these research projects — even those taking the placebo. The medical science success is determined by the differential early results in the two groups and longterm results as well.

The placebo effect absolutely impacts beliefs about gemstones and their alleged results on the wearer. These stones and jewelry itself became amulets and forms of self-protection with histories dating back — minimally— 30,000 years.

Under the microscope today is strong evidence that early women — not men exclusively — created these early amulets. To be very precise, those early peoples were Neanderthals.
