Megan Fox and Kourtney Kardashian Show SKIMS Cotton Sexy Side by Donna Trope
/Kim Kardashian’s underwear brand SKIMS mixes two real-life, smoldering women friends Megan Fox and Kourtney Kardashian in this sensual cotton feast.
Add bare apples and cherries. but no extravagant recipes please. Olga’s cherry and apple galette sounds mouthwatering, but let’s keep this intimate film out of the kitchen. We’re not shooting ‘9 1/2 Weeks’ here, although the Kardashian sisters might consider a role-reversal remake. If anybody can pull it off, they can.
Artist and photographer Donna Trope is actually shooting a lot more SKIMS, based on her IG. Subversive but with perfect pitch.
As always — especially when we like a campaign the way we like this one — AOC tackles the ‘S-Word’. To her credit Kim Kardashian puts the word Sustainability in her FAQS toolbar link.
It’s mostly milk toast, generic verbiage — not at all like Candice Swaneppoel’s Tropic of C sustainability strategy — but SKIMS addresses in separate links: Sustainability, Fair Wages, and Biodegradable Packaging. On the question of packaging, SKIMS answers “Yes, we’ve removed all plastic and non-recyclable materials from our packaging and replaced them with FSC recycled paper boxes and compostable, eco-friendly bags.”
We can’t look at this campaign and not draw a comparison to Victoria’s Secret. And AOC is committed to accurate reporting and fairness always. There is no mention of sustainability that we find on the VS website. BUT, we checked the new Victoria’s Secret corporate website for investors — now that the brand is separate from L Brands, and we link to their energy-climate page. The information is focused on manufacturing plants and lighting in stores.
Even though VS has been discussing the environment since 2006, they reference no improvements in the sustainability of their lingerie products or packaging. There is some discussion around beauty packaging — using recycled aluminum in beauty packaging — but nothing significant in the Victoria’s Secret product assortments.
AOC has every confidence that Kim Kardashian will move SKIMS on the road to increased sustainability. As for Victoria’s Secret, after 15 years of professed commitment and awareness around climate change and almost nothing to show for it except for more efficiency in distribution centers, we probably should keep our expectations low. ~ Anne
