/‘Euphoria’ star Hunter Schafer covers the January 11, 2020 issue of Porter Edit. Sean Knight styles Schafer in Alaïa, Ceffin, Gauchere, Jacquemus, Nanushka, Paco Rabanne and more, lensed in ‘Supernova’ by Daria Kobayashi Ritch [IG]./ Hair by Bobby Eliot; makeup by Sandy Ganze
Hunter Schafer talks to Hanna Hanra about her momentum-overflowing acting career, co-writing and co-producing Jules’ special episode of ‘Euphoria’ and the personal passion projects that propel fer forward in 2021.
Schafer seems more personally introspective than many living through quarantine. Perhaps as a trans child with supportive parents, the litigant in a famous ACLU trans-bathroom lawsuit, a vivacious and articulate young woman who got a great acting assignment without an ounce of training or serious acting experience — perhaps for these reasons and more Schafer articulates well the experiences of millions of fellow humans.
“It’s been an interesting year for mental health. Everyone’s been forced to sit with themselves and confront a lot of stuff. Personally, that’s not something I’ve ever done before and this year really forced me to do that. That was really the bulk of my quarantine journey,” she smiles, “confronting stuff and using work as a pretty large coping mechanism.”
