I never thought AOC would be reporting on lady boxers in a Dior campaign, but I love it!! My heart is full of tenderness for Ramla Ali’s setback, but she is already a determined winner with enormous fortitude, skills, and inner resolve.

Ramla offers so much for young women of every background to emulate, that success is already her trophy. But I know she is suffering in this moment and must pain her way through today’s loss on her quest for the title.

Previously: To celebrate the global release of the Lady 95.22 Bag Campaign, Dior has enlisted global ambassador, Somalia-born British boxer Ramla Ali. Shot by photographer Brigitte Lacombe, the images are minimalist black-and-white portraits that depict Ali holding the Lady 95.22.

Revealed at the Dior autumn-winter 2022-2023 ready-to-wear show, the Lady 95.22 bag revisits the House's unique heritage with modernity. It reinvents the lines of the Lady Dior and echoes the year 1995, the date of the icon's creation, and 2022, the year of this original reinterpretation. Bold and sophsticated, the Lady Dior’s two handles are delicately refined with leather and metal, then punctuated with "Dior" charms, evoking the lucky-charms of Monsieur Dior.

Alongside the revamped Lady Dior Bag, the AW23 leather goods drop also sees the release of the C’est Dior and CD Signature Bags.

Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri continues to also update friends of the House and the cast of global ambassadors.

Ali has never lost a fight in her professional boxing career so far. Her most recent fight was a non-title bout against Australian boxer Avril Mathie on February 4, 2023. Ali won the fight via 10 round unanimous decision, but listen up.

Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, Ramla fled the country with her family at the age of six. Fleeing the civil war that is always on the cusp of eruption, her family took an overcrowded sailboat from Kismayo, a port city in Somalia, to Mombassa, Kenya.

The family sought asylum in the UK and settled in London, where Ramla grew up.

Ali recently moved to Los Angeles, prioritizing the decision to be closer to her trainer, she told ELLE UK in May. ‘LA is nice,’ she says. ‘The weather's beautiful. My coach lives there and I said to myself, “Boxing is not forever so use the time you have left to just give 100%.” It was hard to leave home and not see my mum and my family as much because we're tight. But sometimes you have to make sacrifices for the things you love. Muhammad Ali has the best quote: “Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.” I say this siting here getting a manicure,’ she laughs.

Ramla Ali's background and values have greatly influenced her advocacy work and philanthropy efforts. As a Somali refugee who fled from war-torn Somalia to the UK, Ali is passionate about supporting refugees and promoting gender equality. She has worked with various organizations, such as the UN Refugee Agency and Save the Children, to raise awareness about the plight of refugees and provide them with much-needed resources.

Additionally, Ali has been actively involved in promoting women's rights in sports. She co-founded "Boxing Sisters," a platform that empowers women through boxing, and also works with organizations such as Women in Sport to promote gender equality in sports. Through her advocacy work and philanthropy efforts, Ramla Ali is making a significant impact on society by promoting inclusivity, diversity, and gender equality.
