Karlie Kloss and Carolina Herrera: A Modern Women Brand Match in ELLE España

The astonishingly grounded and successful supermodel activist, humanitarian, wife and mother, philanthropist, investor, and hands-on businesswoman Karlie Kloss covers the December 2024 issue of ELLE España [IG].

The Carolina Herrera ‘Good Girl’ ambassador is styled by Bárbara Garralda in three ELLE covers and a fashion story for the Carolina Herrera brand. Photographer Xavi Gordo [IG] captures the perfectly elegant looks for the holidays and resort getaways, as AOC dives into an examination of a Kloss-Herrera alliance that’s worth a Harvard Business School case study.

@KodeWithKlossy

The successful relationship between Karlie Kloss and Carolina Herrera the brand and their Good Girl fragrance is a thriving business/personal activist relationship founded in 2018.

From the onset, shared values were a cornerstone of their synergy. Karlie’s philanthropy centered around @KodeWithKlossy — her 2015-launched, summer camp initiative teaching teen girls ages 13-18 to code. The tech initiative was embraced with words of praise and financial funding by the Carolina Herrera leadership team.

At Moments, Silence Is Golden

Karlie Kloss and her husband Josh Kushner do not share the Republican politics of his brother Jared and his wife Ivanka Trump. They have navigated the public terrain with graceful commitment to their own values.

Carolina Herrera has not publicly embraced all of Kloss’s activism. “Carolina Herrera always says, ‘A woman who’s an open book is boring,’” Karlie told Porter Magazine in 2018.

The supermodel’s rich history also includes strong support for sensible gun rights legislation and the FEED Project, founded in 2007 by Lauren Bush-Lauren and Ellen Gustafson to feed hungry children.

Karlie Kloss leads with her values, rather than finding a good cause that won’t damage her reputation in any way. From a business relationship standpoint, we have two highly-credentialed parties who remain supportive — if silent at times — about each other’s activism, where prudence and common sense demand it.

Karlie Kloss and Reproductive Freedom

There is no doubt that the halo effect of Karlie Kloss for Carolina Herrera is a positive one, as this 32-year old mother of two boys increases her activism around women’s health access. Kloss chooses carefully her partners in activism in ways that do no harm to Carolina Herrera. If they did, AOC believes that Karlie would give up the relationship, rather than step back.

In 2024 Karlie joined forces with Phoebe Gates, daughter of Melinda and Bill Gates, in support of women’s reproductive freedom.

They created the ‘In Bloom’ series and ‘Everybody’s Fight’, acting as executive producers with the MTV Staying Alive Foundation. The project highlights both those most impacted by reproductive freedom restrictions and those chronicling the intense fight on the frontlines in America.

The Power of Melinda Gates

Melinda Gates herself has spun off her own philanthropic funding from her former husband’s and spotlighted Karlie Kloss as one of six humanitarians she supports worldwide in the September 2024 issue of Vanity Fair Magazine.

AOC’s point in highlighting Karlie’s relationship with Carolina Herrera is that even where the luxury brand isn’t officially involved with an activist project, their clients are sophisticated women of all ages who 80-90% support the efforts of women like Karlie Kloss, Melinda Gates and now, Melinda’s daughter Phoebe

Melinda Gates has been a warrior in this fight for many years. And the next four years promise to be a nightmare for American women.

Suit Up Ladies for the Battle Ahead

This Kloss-Herrera and now Kloss-Gatesx2 relationship thrives on upside potential and stands as a 2025 call to action. Rather than stay under the covers with a pillow over our heads for the next four years, more of us will be required to step up in this fight for women’s reproductive healthcare rights in America — as frustrating, infuriating and insulting to women’s intelligence as it is.

The Gates women will remind us that this is an international USAID $$$ fight as well.

‘Personhood’ for embryos is the next big reach by Trump and Project 2025. These laws would bring staggering repercussions on the lives of American women, where we would become vessels of the state during our pregnancies.

Being prosecuted for negligence and manslaughter would become commonplace in this new world order. ‘Personhood’ for embryos is as code red as life gets for American women.

Today we highlight key parties in this fight and this lovely Happy Holidays fashion story from ELLE España.

American women’s lives may be turned inside out in the next four years, but these warriors for women will remain strong and articulate in their resistance. ~ Anne
