The Parties Should “Go for It”
Meanwhile, rumors swirl around Chloé designer Chemena Kamali and her apparent success at restoring Chloé to its original bohemian roots. Kamali is a woman’s designer, meaning that she is focused on the real lives of the women who wear her clothes.
Kamali shares the client-centric vision of Maria Grazia Chiuri, Matthieu Blazy, Michael Rider, and Sarah Burton — to name four designers who share her design DNA. The woman-first or client-first perspective fills the oxygen of their design studios.
As for the rumor mill, AOC will release a series of important posts beginning next week. All we will say for now, is that all parties involved in the Kamali rumors should “go for it”. I will be making this case and a much broader one next week about luxury brands, including one poor soul of a brand that finds itself in a triple pincer moment, if the Chloé rumors are solid.
Brand X already is in a double-pincer squeeze, and I will run down all the military moves that can play out in this luxury industry shakeup. The single-pincer squeeze — should that ever exist — is underway already, and the financial analysts are finally calling it out. The double-pincer is coming with a new spring 2027 collection that will punch the poor soul brand around like a boxing ball.
Pincer #3 may be suiting up for a grand entrance from stage left. What a luxury world production might be in the making here. A drama series for certain. ~ Anne
