Sophie Turner, Good Mother, for British Vogue June 2024 by Mikael Jansson
/British actor Sophie Turner covers the June 2024 issue of British Vogue [IG], meeting up with Chioma Nnadi at London Zoo’s Gorilla Kingdom for the cover story Sophie Turner Is Doing Just Fine.
Camilla Nickerson styled Turner in a Louis Vuitton yellow top and white jeans for the cover. In late December 2023, Vuitton noted that Turner had worked for the brand for six years, starring in six campaigns.

Effie and Sophie
We return to the charming London Zoo gorilla Effie, born in 1993 at the Copenhagen Zoo and possessed with a large appetite. The zookeeper on duty does not give Effie the highest marks for good mothering.
“Do you see how she’s dangling her baby by one arm? That’s actually not the best way to handle their newborns,” says the zookeeper. “They’re supposed to be wrapped around the body.”
Effie has had four attempts at winning a crown for good mothering, and it never works out. Sophie Turner, mother of two girls, Willa and Delphine, can relate. According to Nnadi, “ . . . it is, in fact, Turner who has been subjected to mom-shaming—of the most egregious kind.”
In the Sophie Turner - Joe Jonas divorce, tabloid headlines had Sophie Turner partying like a wild child on a sabbatical away from motherhood. AOC remembers those headlines.
Bad Mothers Out for Money
Nnadi continues, “Meanwhile, her pop-idol husband was portrayed as the doting dad, captured dutifully tending to his two daughters.” AOC definitely remembers those headlines, too.
Okay, AOC is busted. Anne reads Page Six just to see how MAGA digests popular headlines. The anti-Sophie Turner comments were relentless.
Gisele Bundchen is also considered to be pure evil. Seriously! Talented women with careers and children, who find themselves in divorce proceedings for whatever reason, have no support or empathy on Page Six. They are considered to be self-absorbed women out for their successful husband’s money. For Gisele, her former status as highest-paid supermodel in the world who semi-retired to raise her kids, counted for nothing. She’s a superficial woman and a bad mother. Case closed.
“I mean, those were the worst few days of my life,” says Turner with a sharp intake of breath, the memory still fresh. We’ve moved to a quiet corner in the zoo’s canteen, a vast light-filled space that’s mercifully empty now that the breakfast rush is over. “It hurt because I really do completely torture myself over every move I make as a mother—mum guilt is so real! I just kept having to say to myself, ‘None of this is true. You are a good mum and you’ve never been a partier.’ ”
Turner had been filming for Joan, a six-part drama coming to The CW network in late 2024, inspired by Joan Hannington, Britain’s most notorious jewel thief. Her own producer confirmed to Vogue Turner’s whereabouts every day for five months. She was not out partying, headlines be damned.
Taylor Swift to the Rescue
Because the beloved Taylor Swift pops up everywhere in today’s world, she popped into Sophie Turner’s life, having briefly dated Joe Jonas, when she was 18. Swift’s relationship with Jonas ended in a 27-second phone call, inspiring the pop star to write “Forever & Always” for Fearless, her second album.
Swift routinely stops her concerts to get aid for guests she sees in need of medical help. With no real history binding them together, the pop star gave Turner access to her New York apartment at no cost.
Swift is known for these selfless gestures — which seem to be unending. Taylor offered Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper her Rhode Island beach house, where the paps couldn’t penetrate their young-relationship privacy.
“I’ve never been more grateful to anyone than I am for her because she took my children and me, and provided us with a home and a safe space,” Turner says about Swift. “She really has a heart of gold.”
