Binx Walton in Wadi Rum and Petra by Eddie Wrey for D Le Repubblica June 24, 2023

Welcome to the awe-inspiring realm of model Binx Walton lensed by Eddie Wrey [IG] at Wadi Rum and Petra, two iconic historical landmarks in the heart of Jordan. AOC notes that some backdrop images are dated April, 2022 on Wrey’s IG and there’s no confirmation that the team actually travelled to the region. We don’t know.

Binx wears that long composite of familiar names including Alaïa, Bottega Veneta, Ferragamo, Gucci, Hermès, MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon, Miu Miu, Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello and more, styled by James Valeri for D la Repubblica’s Summer 2023 Travel Issue. Hair by Olivier Schawalder; makeup by Janeen Witherspoon.

Humanity Is Multicultural

Binx Walton is the perfect person for this editorial, blessed with a multiracial background that is the true story of human societies around the world. It’s now well-established that Homo Sapiens co-existed and had sexual relations with Neanderthals.

Walton was born in California before moving to Hawaii as a child and then onto Knoxville, Tennessee at six years old. Binx identifies as multiracial with a “white” [whatever that means] mother, and traceable family members of African American, Dutch, Eastern Asian, German, Indian and Irish heritage.

The nickname "Binx" was given to her as a child by her brothers, after the Star Wars character Jar Jar Binks.

The Ancient Nabateans

Nestled within jagged red sandstone formations and ancient rock-cut architecture, these UNESCO World Heritage sites offer a majestic window into the ancient Nabatean civilization.

The ancient Nabateans, a remarkable people who forged a rich and vibrant culture, have left an indelible mark on history. Spanning from the 4th century BCE to the 1st century CE, this enigmatic civilization created a legacy that continues to captivate the imagination of historians, archaeologists, and travelers alike.

Harnessing the power of trade and their strategic location along key caravan routes, they built a fabled empire centered around their magnificent capital city of Petra.

Nestled within the rugged canyons of the region, Petra stands as a testament to the Nabateans' ingenuity and architectural prowess.

The Earlier Natufian Peoples

Anne of Carversville has an ongoing project of organizing and writing about the history of our collective humanity. The ancient Nabateans should not be confused with the Natufian People, who preceded them by about 10,000 years in the region.

The Natufians are the historic peoples who transitioned from a hunting and gathering society to an agricultural one.

In a critically-important new discovery, a team operating out of Israel has discovered small prehistoric flutes believed to be 12,000 years old.
