Edie Campbell's Sartorial Approach to a Return to the Office in ELLE France September 22, 2022
/AOC is all in when top model Edie Campbell [IG] wears the pants. Today Edie suits up for the September 22, 2022 issue of ELLE France in a sartorial fashion story ‘Costard Système’, styled by Claire Dhelens. Claudia Knoepfel [IG] photographs Campbell’s cover story for a world of professionals being dragged back to the office.
The fight has been long and somewhat brutal. Forbes updated the return to office battlelines on September 20th.
Results indicate that 49% of Manhattan office workers are currently at the workplace on an average weekday, significant upwards motion from 38% in April. Only 10% of employees are in the office five days a week in New York, while fully-remote workers fell t 16% in September from 28% in April.
WSJ looked at September 2022 office use in 10 metro cities across America and found it to be 47.5% of early 2020 levels for a five business days week. By contrast to New York’s 49%, Houston’s post-Labor Day rise is 63%. Houston has led the nation in having the highest return to office rate. San Francisco has one of the lowest return rates at 40.7%.
The outcomes of the strong refusals of many professionals to return to working in the office — even three days a week — are unknown. Landlords and corporate management all agree that the new battle is not COVID-driven and is more about lifestyle choices.
A quick survey of return rates in Europe is higher, but probably not solely attitudinal. Mass transit is far superior in Europe, whereas Americans are paying much higher gas prices.
Note that AOC’s comments are solely confined to return to the ofice discussions. There are alarming reports out there about factories closing in Europe because they absolutely cannot pay the energy prices, in a post-Russian gas world.
To be continued . . . but both people and business are in for a rough ride in the coming months. From a fashion standpoint, the fabulous Edie Campbell is our September 2022 guide to suiting up French style.
