Colombia's 'Goyo' Covers Miss Vogue Mexico'sMay 2022 Fashion Story by Anna Palma

Afro-Colombian singer, rapper, composer and songwriter Gloria ‘Goyo’ Martinez takes the Miss Vogue cover story of Vogue Mexico’s May 2022 issue. Photographer Anna Palma [IG] is behind the lens, with styling by Celia Azoulay, choosing an eclectic pattern and texture mix from Desigual, Etro, Gucci and more.

Part of the Latin GRAMMY®-winning ChocQuibTown group, Goyo is originally from Chocó , a department in Colombia located in the Pacific region. The trio formed in 2000 in Cali, Colombia and also includes Carlos ‘Tostao’ Valencia and SlowMike.

The group has become an advocate for the Afro- descendant community against systemic racism. Their music is a fusion of jazz, funk, hip-hop, reggae, salsa and son. The last category Son Cubano, translates roughly to "the Cuban sound." This genre originated in the highlands of eastern Cuba, using both European and African instruments and musical customs.

In advance of her HBO Max March 4, 2022 streaming special, Goyo’s Warner Media management released Goyo’s first solo, as part of HBO's Latin GRAMMY®-award winning series EN LETRA DE OTRO.

“Na Na Na” fuses the rhythms of Caribbean dembow [born in Jamaica] with club-ready arrangements and Goyo’s wordplay, as she sings the empowering lyrics of a woman who is willing to walk away from a relationship that isn’t centered on faithful love,” writes Warner Media.
