I’ve been a fan for so long, I kind of feel like I manifested this,” the beauty ambassador for Rimmel London explains to interviewer Hermione Eyre. Adwoa Aboah is speaking about her landing an acting role in the fourth season of ‘Top Boy’, the acclaimed sleeper hit drama starring Ashley Walters and the rapper Kano.

Aboah has spoken openly about her mental health issues — growing up as a biracial young women in a creative and professional, credentialed London family. With drugs readily available in London, she became addicted to ketamine, was depressed and suffering from bipolar disorder, and a suicide attempt in 2015 left her in a coma for four days.

Crossing into self-love and self-care, the strong activist voice around mental health in fashion world tells the Times that she’s indeed in a much better place these days. That reality makes many of us very happy for Adwoa Aboah.
