Penelope Cruz Fronts InStyle Spain #200, Talks 'Parallel Mothers' and 'Escobar'

Actor Penelope Cruz returns to the cover of InStyle Spain’s May 2021, celebrating the 200th issue of the magazine. Cruz appeared on the launch issue of InStyle Spain back in October, 2004, writes the magazine. The years are being wiped away on the face of Penelope Cruz, who also sports a new bob haircut in images by Erik Gordon .

Penelope Cruz Movie Projects

Cruz, who married actor Javier Bardem in 2010, is working with her husband on ‘Escobar’, a movie about Colombian drug lord Pable Escobar. Cruz plays Escobar’s (played by Bardem) journalist lover Virginia Valejo in their first on-screen reunion since the 2008 Wood Allen film ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’. Cruz won a supporting actress Oscar for her role in that film.

Cruz is also filming ‘Parallel Mothers’, reuniting her with Pedro Almodóvar in a story the explores the lives of two mothers who give birth on the same day.

Almodovar told AP of the new project:  'I return to the female universe and to motherhood as well, which is a subject that has always fascinated me. 

'But in this case, the mothers that appear are very different from the ones Penélope has played before.

'These are very imperfect mothers and as an author that's what interested me the most, especially because I have already done several self-sacrificing and heroic mothers.

'So this is a little bit about descendants, children, but also about ancestors, about family.'
