Anya Taylor-Joy As New Dior Ambassador Preps As 'Furiosa' in 'Fury Road' Prequel

Newly named Dior ambassador Anya Taylor-Joy was learning how to properly carry a handbag when she was found eating a vegan burrito in a Martha Hayes interview for Tatler UK’s October 2021 issue. Our immediate thought was to check for a new Dior ambassadorship, and we were right.

At this week’s celebration of the star’s movie ‘Last Night in Soho’, the ‘Queen’s Gambit’ star made it official. Thanking Dior for her new role, confirmed on October 25, as global ambassador for both women’s fashion and makeup, Taylor-Joy knew she had succeeded in learning how to properly carry her Dior bag.

Known as one of the most talented, hardworking women around, the English-Argentine actor is the youngest of six children. Anya Taylor-Joy identifies as a white Latina, although she has not acted in a Spanish-speaking role. Her mother was born in Zambia, to an English diplomat father, David Joy, and a Spanish mother, Montserrat Morancho Saumench, from Barcelona. Her father is of English and Scottish descent. Taylor-Joy lived with her family in Buenos Aires until age six, when her family moved to London.

In this moment Anya Taylor-Joy is preparing for her role as Furiosa in George Miller’s ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ prequel, which will film next year. Taylor-Joy is taking over the role of Furiosa from Charlize Theron, who earned rave reviews for her performance in “Fury Road.”

Taylor-Joy has already gone on the record more than once, saying it will be impossible to match the high of Theron’s performance in “Fury Road,” adding, “I can’t even think about trying to step into her shoes. It has to be something different because it just can’t be done.”
