Writing for WSJ, Jenny Hartman notes:
Getting dressed these days requires great attention to the neckline, which has become a defining focus of any outfit now that all events, from work conferences to award shows, take place on screens. This season, new solutions to dressing up involve strong silhouettes that celebrate the clavicle or the shape of the shoulders. While a square neckline often pairs well with a statement necklace, the version on Bottega Veneta’s cap-sleeve dress is dramatic enough to leave unadorned. Consider, too, a plunging V-neck, such as that formed by the sharp lines of a single-breasted blazer, or a single collarbone left exposed by a one-shoulder dress, like a petal-sleeve frock from Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello. Subtle flourishes can add texture to everyday pieces. Louis Vuitton’s pleated ruff collar, for example, works well over a classic Salvatore Ferragamo button-up. Delicate, heirloomlike earrings, from simple gold drops to classic cameos, complete the look.
