Trump Stirs Vanity Fair Hive's Condescending Hillary Brew & Now Fox News Fans The Flames

"Vanity Fair, which looks like it is on its last legs, is bending over backwards in apologizing for the minor hit they took at Crooked H," Trump said on Twitter Thursday.  "Anna Wintour, who was all set to be Amb to Court of St James's & a big fundraiser for CH, is beside herself in grief & begging for forgiveness!"

Trump's suggestion that  Condé Nast's Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who is also artistic director of Vanity Fair and not editor-in-chief of the magazine, was horrified by the magazine's sweet young things' hit job on Hillary Clinton is probably true. The furor with Vanity Fair among Hillary supporters was beginning to ebb when Trump took a new blow torch to the controversy from his digital perch at Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Last Friday, Vanity Fair's site The Hive queried staff members for possible New Year's resolutions for Hillary Clinton. A number of people, including Trump, received resolutions.

The jokes were not kind, especially since Hillary Clinton has made it totally clear that she is not running again. The six white chicks -- are they Republicans? -- drowning in their own self-importance were not kind. Mrs. Clinton was urged to take up a new hobby — “volunteer work, knitting, improv comedy, taking more photos in the woods -- literally anything that’ll keep you from running again.” “It’s time to start working on your sequel to your book, ‘What Happened.’ ‘What the Hell Happened?'” riffs one staffer. Next up: “Get someone on your tech staff to disable autofill on your iPhone so that typing in ‘F’ doesn’t become ‘Form Exploratory Committee for 2020.'”

In Clintonworld, living each painful day in Trumplandia, -no one was amused. The actor Patricia Arquette tweeted at Vanity Fair to “STOP TELLING WOMEN” what “THEY SHOULD DO OR CAN DO", as the hashtag #CancelVanityFair trended.

On Fox News Friday morning, contributor Tomi Lahren slammed Vanity Fair for issuing the short apology which read: "It was an attempt at humor and we regret that it missed the mark,” said Beth Kseniak on Wednesday.

Lahren, like Trump, sought to capitalize on the moment, tearing into the magazine for the apology in an interview with "Fox & Friends" on Friday.

"They had humor. They were making fun at Hillary Clinton. Of course, any time you poke fun at Hillary Clinton, the leftist machine is going to come after you," Lahren told co-hosts Leland Vittert and Rachel Campos-Duffy.

"But why are we apologizing to Hillary Clinton for anything?" the former "Blaze TV" host continued. "I will apologize to Hillary Clinton when she apologizes for compromising national security and classified information, lying about Benghazi, taking money from countries who torture women and guys, rigging the primary against Bernie Sanders and just making women overall look bad."

"That’s when I will apologize to Hillary Clinton. Until then, my goodness, 'Vanity Fair,' get a backbone.”

Friday's Hillary bashing on Fox News seems to confirm WaPo's Erik Wemple's view on the digital fracas, starting with his headline: Vanity Fair staffers provide snotty, condescending life tips for Hillary Clinton.

How do you boost Hillary Clinton’s favorability ratings with Trumpites? That’s a tough task, considering the enduring popularity of the whole “lock her up” movement. Yet one approach would be to line up a crew of young urbanites, put champagne flutes in their hands and have them recite snarky and demeaning New Year’s resolutions for the twice-failed presidential candidate and former first lady.

For her part, Hillary Clinton once again took Gallup's 'Most Admired Woman in the World' title, in the company of Barack Obama, who beat our Trump for 'Most Admired Man'.
