Freida Pinto Is Lensed By David Roemer In 'Grazie Millionaire' For Vanity Fair Italy November 2018

Danny Boyle’s Oscar-winning ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ (2008) lifted India-born Freida Pinto to global fame. Bottom line, Freida Pinto is the Mumbai girl who made it big in Hollywood and also the first Asian woman to take the cover of Vanity Fair Italy.

Pinto covers the November issue styled by Sarah Gore Reeves in Chanel, DSquared2, Chloe, Max Mara and More. Cartier jewelry accents Frida’s western-inspired looks lensed by David Roemer.

Pinto’s latest film is ‘Love Sonia’, directed by Tabrez Noorani, who was a line producer in ‘Slum Dog’. ‘Love Sonia’ was a decade in the making as the harrowing account of two sisters who lost their innocence when one sibling is sold by her debt-ridden father. Sonia Pinto plays the role of Mrunal Thakur who traveled to Mumbai to rescue her sister Preeti, played by Riya Sisodiya.

Director Noorani was inspired to make ‘Love Sonia’ after learning about human trafficking in Los Angeles in 2003. Girls, one of them a young Indian, were found in a shipping container from China. The director became an activist in human trafficking of girls and has participated in multiple brothel raids.

Naomi is interviewed by Selina Julien in a look back at her stellar, three decades career. She was “the first black model to appear on the cover of Vogue Paris in 1988 and on Vogue US’s coveted September issue in 1989 – the 1.78m Londoner has been paving the way for the next generation in her own imitable style.” Adding to the reflection as a then exec at Victoria’s Secret, I can say that Naomi was the first black model to appear solo in marketing materials in the holiday windows of all VS retail stores. I believe she was the first black model to ever appear in VS windows, but my memory should be checked.

Campbell doesn’t shy away from discussing the issue of diversity in the industry, writes Julien. “I’m never going to say I wasn’t picked because of the color of my skin and I’d never go down that route, even if it was the case,” she says defiantly. “It would just give me more strength and perseverance for me to go out there and get what I want.” Teaming up with fellow veterans of the modeling world Iman and Bethann Hardison, “the trio champions inclusion to ensure that the number of black and Asian women on magazine covers, on runways, and in campaigns is balanced.”

Iman reflected on their infamous 2013 letter to the fashion industry in her recent Porter Edit Interview.

On Nov. 6 Election Day, Anne Hopes Cat & Dog Shoes Lovers Land A Knockout Punch On Trump

On Nov. 6 Election Day, Anne Hopes Cat & Dog Shoes Lovers Land A Knockout Punch On Trump

Writing just now about the Louis Vuitton x Grace Coddington collab called Catogram, inspired me to reflect on my mouse shoes and their Manhattan intersection with a so-called master of the universe.

On this epic voting day in America, we have 1) a chance to smash rudeness, lies and white nationalism in the face in a blow to Donald Trump; 2) to stand for feline truth. You ALWAYS know where you stand with a cat, and there is no such thing as emotional fakery; and 3) love for humanity with a devoted dog who has your back.

While America is a nation with many faults, today will tell the world whether or not America still has a soul. Is she really the nation of promise I’ve fought for all these years, or does she have a fundamentally racist, angry, white nationalist, cold and frozen heart.

America’s true values are on the ballot today, so let me share a smile-worthy moment with a New York man with a heart — unlike Trump’s empty tin can contraption that keeps him alive, but has never in life had a real tuneup.

A Master of the Universe Meets My Parisian Mouse Shoes by Anne Aug. 11, 2011

These ‘Smoking Cat Wedges’ come from London-based luxury accessories designer Charlotte Olympia. Mine were mice. I bought them in Paris during the 80s, and I positively adored them. My mice shoes were fully fitted with eyes, whiskers and tails.

Wearing them on the sidewalks of New York, I knew my mouse tails weren’t long for this world. A sensible woman would have kept her Parisian mouse shoes for special occasions, but mine were pounding the pavement in days. Within weeks, one tail was AWOL.

Whose NYC Sidewalk Is This?

I have a major pet peeve with aggressive men in New York. You know the guy — he walks in the wrong direction on your side of the sidewalk, assuming that you will get out of his way, in order to avoid a major collision. It usually works, and women not only defer but say ‘I’m sorry’ as a Manhattan master of the universe mows the little people down.

Coddington’s whimsical illustrations of her Persian cats, Pumpkin and Blanket, made nice with Vuitton creative director Nicolas Ghesquière’s dog, Léon. The 3 Ninth Avenue space also hosted a few scampering mice on clothing, shoes and leather goods, including silk pajama sets and LV’s iconic Speedy and Petite Malle handbags. Also on view is LV’s 2019 resort collection. Shop til you drop until at the Manhattan pop-up until Nov. 12.

EYE: Grace Elizabeth Soars In Major Model Success With Estée Lauder & VS Pink Backing

Estée Lauder’s new face, Florida-raised Grace Elizabeth (Cabe) celebrates the holidays in the brand’s  ‘Beautiful Belle’ fragrance shoot and Lauder’s ‘Pure Color Desire Rouge Excess’ creme lipstick.

W Magazine profiled Grace Elizabeth in September, in advance of another walk on the Victoria’s Secret runway, now in countdown mode. The brand may be struggling with multiple challenges, but in the world of models — these girls love Victoria’s Secret. Read more after Grace Elizabeth’s Estée Lauder beauty images.

Grace Elizabeth on her first Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

"When I was seventeen, and first walked into Next Models and they asked me what was my goal, I said, ‘I want to be a Victoria’s Secret Angel.’ Adriana Lima talked to me before the first VS show and said, ‘You’re not alone. Take every step and second of it to your heart and feel powerful and embrace it. You’re never going to forget your first show.’” Lima was right, for better or worse. “The first people I saw when I walked out were my parents, which I was not expecting to,” she said. “It almost stopped me dead in my tracks. I was like, ‘Hi, Dad.’ But it’s been one of the most empowering experiences to be around all of these girls and we’ve really bonded.”

Grace Elizabeth on social media

She takes being a face of Estée Lauder and Victoria’s Secret Pink very seriously.

“When I first started, I had like a 100 followers, and it was like the kids I went to school with,” she continued. “My mom wouldn’t even let me have Facebook until I was 15, so social media was something that was new to me. Victoria’s Secret really helped me a lot; I think I got 50,000 followers in one day. Speaking with your followers and communicating with them, I feel like it is important to interact so they feel that you are connected. It gives you such a platform to speak your beliefs and things you want to speak to other people.”

Grace Elizabeth on not taking herself too seriously, with help from friends and family

“They are very supportive, and they don’t quite get it, but I’m still the same person when I started and my personality hasn’t changed much,” she said. “When I go home, my grandma puts me to work. She’s like, ‘Can you change my curtain rod?’ They call me Miss Hollywood every now and then, but they treat me the same.”
