New York Magazine profiles art activist Kimberly Drew on a host of topics. Drew launched her career at The Studio Museum in Harlem before taking up professional residency at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where she currently works as social-media manager.
Drew founded her Tumblr, Black Contemporary Art back in 2011, posting in and her Instagram under the name museummammy. Model Teddy Quinlivan took a strong stand for her colleagues last week, penning a powerful open letter on Instagram. Teddy spoke generally about the issue of sexual harassment in the fashion industry, while disclosing her own direct experiences with wandering fingers in her panties and more.
After probing the reality that victims of sexual harassment and sexual assault are generally ignored because of the power that the perpetrator photographer or stylist wields, Teddy Quinlivan announced, “I refuse to work with brands and publications who continue to collaborate with accused offenders of assault,” adding, “There is no fashion show, editorial, campaign, or event that is more important than the safety and well being of both myself and remarkable men and women I work with.”
