Clinton Defeats Sanders in Nevada: On to South Carolina & Super Tuesday

Listening to Craig Melvin interviewing South Carolina voters just now, what the heck is it with questions that lead the witness -- so to speak -- by suggesting that Hillary is 'having some problems' in the state. Your own damn poll out today shows Hillary leading 60 to 32% in the state, and that Hillary leads among African American voters under age 45.
Perhaps voters under 45 aren't a monolithic vote. Perhaps younger African American voters know that talk is cheap and the last thing that they want to do is to attach themselves to a pipe dream white guy who says racism isn't the problem, class is.
We don't claim to understand the dynamics of all that is wrong in America, but when we watch news reporters leaning hard on voters in their interviews because they support Hillary, it causes our blood pressure to rise.
We all know that MSNBC is all in for Bernie -- this crazy Chris Matthews petition aside -- but when you are leading the witness in a perceived effort to get them to change their vote, you are guilty as charged. ~ Anne

Trying to distract myself from the Nevada HIllary/Bernie mashup today I encounterd a great pair of cat shoes from a FB friend. The shoes inspired a FB post Anne's Cat Shoes Meet A New York Master of the Universe.
In the case of the cat shoes, I bought mine in Paris during the 80s, and positively adored them. My cat shoes were fully fitted with eyes, whiskers and tails. Wearing them on the sidewalks of New York, I knew my cat tails weren’t long for this world.
A sensible woman would have kept her cat tails for special occasions, but mine were pounding the pavement in days. Within weeks, one tail was AWOL.

I have a major pet peeve with aggressive men in New York -- even though I’ve dated plenty of them. You know the guy — he walks in the wrong direction on your side of the sidewalk, assuming that you will get out of his way, in order to avoid a major collision. It usually works, and women not only defer but say ‘I’m sorry’ as a Manhattan master of the universe mows the little people down.

We celebrate every step forward taken in the drive to end the genital mutilitation of women worldwide. But a new report from the UN says that the estimates of the total women affected has been very underestimated.
A new survey from Indonesia, the world’s fourth most populous country, plus population growth in other countries where the practice continues, often despite being outlawed—led to the revision.
It's believed that about half of all Indonesian females under the age of twelve have undergone female genital mutilation or cutting, as it’s formally known, even though the practice was outlawed in 2006."The new numbers bump up the worldwide total to at least two hundred million women and girls, alive today, who have undergone genital mutilation—some just a few weeks after birth, the vast majority before the age of ten."

Cologne Attacks Raise Major Questions About Arab Men & Women's Safety In Western Countries
Over the New Years holiday, Germany experienced significant attacks of a wide-ranging nature on women living there. Writing for The New Yorker, Amy Davidson describes the scene -- NPR estimates that 1000 men gathered by Cologne's famous cathedral and central hub train station -- on New Year's Eve in Cologne as reported in Der Spiegel:
That night, as revellers filled the station platforms and—following a dubious German tradition—tossed firecrackers, they were pushed out into already crowded streets. There, groups of men who, according to eye-witness accounts and subsequent police investigations, were primarily foreigners from nations in North Africa, the Middle East, and the Balkans, targeted women and surrounded them. Some of the men groped and taunted them, while others stole their wallets and their cell phones. Women, accompanied or not, literally ran a ‘gauntlet’ through masses of heavily intoxicated men that words cannot describe.” The atmosphere was “chaotic and shameless.” Women reported men grabbing at their breasts and between their legs, among other violent and sexual assaults. With the press of the crowd, there was nowhere for the women to go and, although they screamed for help, the police had no effective response; the report described them as overwhelmed, and some witnesses said that they seemed to stand by in confusion. The police report expressed relief that no one was killed, but that appears to have been a matter of luck, not the result of any actions on the part of law enforcement. The chief of police has already been pushed into early retirement.
"A lot happened on New Year's Eve in Cologne, much of it contradictory, much of it real, much of it imagined," wrote the staff of Der Spiegel, who obtained an internal police document about the night's events. "Some was happenstance, some was exaggerated and much of it was horrifying."

Bloomberg provides data suggesting that Bernie Sanders may have to break up the Fortune 500 as well. And super successful startups like Go Pro founder Nick Woodman (featured in photograph below) -- off with their heads. Because business is even more egregious than Wall Street in paying its business executives. Think Bill Gates (no longer active in Microsoft management), Warren Buffett, Steve Jobs (dead), Amazon, Bloomberg, and the list of companies goes on. The multiplier between median staff salaries and executive compensation has skyrocketed in recent years.
A reality check voter knows that the problem is far more complex than breaking up the banks and making Wall Street the super villain. Not that we're in love with Wall Street. We are NOT.
We just think Hillary Clinton has a deeper understanding of the complexity of today's uber capitalism and the range of what can be accomplished in reforms. She probably also knows that Bernie's beloved Sweden now scores higher than the US in entrepreneurial startups. And guess what is happening in the country that has turned its economy around, because it was in the ditch with its old-school, socialist model? The problem is nowhere as bad as in America, but the executive vs worker salary gap is increasing substantially.

While the study researcher Gretchen Sisson didn't specifically link 'feminism' to the abortion study narrative, she did tell NPR that TV helps "build an interesting social myth, which is that women who get abortions aren't mothers and they don't want to be mothers." The facts of abortion on a wide scale are that "the majority of women getting abortions are already parenting, and the vast majority intend to parent during their lives."
Television characters seeking abortions are depicted as doing no because having a child would interfere with educational or career plans, fueling the mythology of the fabricated, feminist first mentality of women who embrace women's rights and self-actualization.
"Taken together, this pattern of reasons can contribute to the construction of abortion as a self-focused decision, and to the belief that abortions are 'wanted' because of personal desires rather than 'needed' because of circumstances such as poverty," the researchers say in their report on TV depictions." Sisson explains.
In a distortion of facts, about 10% of TV characters die from their abortions, when the real death rate is 0.0015 percent -- or nothing. Republicans and the abortions rights movement has used the ruse of protecting women's health to justify the extreme medical safety requirements placed on abortion facilities in the US.
