Supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio, recently split from ex-fiance Jamie Mazur, sizzles in German lingerie and swimwear brand Lascana's Spring/Summer 2018 campaign. Ambrosio is lensed by Tim Petersen in Malibu, California, as part of her new post Victoria's Secret life. The Brazilian beauty remains listed as a VS Angel on the brand's website, but she is on record, posting to Instagram, a loving goodbye with confirmation that the Fall 2017 Shanghai show was her last VS fashion show and she has hung up her wings.
Victoria's Secret's low-key (translated no) response to Ambrosio's departure may be connected to the challenging retail climate for the brand. Parent company L Brands stock price is down almost 40% this year and the PINK brand, which accounts for 40% of Victoria's Secret sales, is giving investors heart burn, amid signs that it's also faltering in the current retail climate.
Many of us feel that VS and PINK are out of sync (for some time) with the brand visions of its customers -- and that's before we discuss Amazon, stagnant wages, too many stores, boutique micro-brands with big sales revenue, and a host of other retail challenges.
