Bible Verses Cast Scourge On Women's Vile & Disgusting Nature

Vogue Italia is always topical and often irreverent in politically incorrect ways. Posting just now the veiled Clara McNair lensed by Léa Nielsen for the December issue -- coming minutes after hearing the American Muslim father-in-law of San Bernardino terrorist Tashfeen Malik said that he had never seen her face, or even met her -- I remembered earlier Anne writing. Malik always lived under her burka.

Anne of Carversville is filled with essays about the demands of religious men that they control women's bodies and public personas. As Paris and California, Egypt and Tunisia, Nigeria and Yemen reel from recent terrorist attacks, it might be time for a Bible lesson, one that I wrote on Feb. 25, 2010 called Bound Tightly By the Good Book & God's Will.

Religious fundamentalism dominates women worldwide, not only Muslim women. In order to maintain perspective, it's important to quote from Christianity's Holy book.. Recently, two Dutch 'pranksters' have scored a YouTube sensation in which they asked members of the public to respond to verses in the Qur'an. Reality is that the duo was quoting from the Bible.

I share also a followup article written by Lisa Brown Women's Bodies Suffer Under the Immoral Gazes of Righteous Men, written March 8, 2011.

The provocative fashion editorial images used here were shot by Herring & Herring and styed by Mykel C. Smith. Models in ‘Bound’ include: Damaris Lewis, Julia Goncharenko, Anais Pouliot and Clara Settje.

The Legend of Lilith

In Jewish folklore, from the 8th–10th century Alphabet of Ben Sira onwards, Lilith becomes Adam’s first wife, who was created at the same time (Rosh Hashanah) and from the same earth as Adam. This contrasts with Eve, who was created from one of Adam’s ribs. The legend was greatly developed during the Middle Ages, in the tradition of Aggadic midrashim, the Zohar, and Jewish mysticism. For example, in the 13th century writings of Rabbi Isaac ben Jacob ha-Cohen, Lilith left Adam after she refused to become subservient to him and then would not return to the Garden of Eden after she coupled with the archangel Samael. The resulting Lilith legend is still commonly used as source material in modern Western culture, literature, occultism, fantasy, and horror. via Wiki

Journalism Ethics On Covering China

Why journalists should be free speech partisans BoingBoing

Following on the New York Times’s decision to continue its critical coverage of China, despite the Chinese government’s retaliation against it, Dan Gillmor calls on journalists and news organizations to abandon the pretense of “neutrality” and take a partisan stand for free speech in questions of censorship, surveillance, net neutrality, copyright takedown, and other core issues of speech in the 21st century.

The Person of Deborah Prophetess and Judge

The Person of Deborah Prophetess and Judge

By Bro. Solomon

Although Barak will lead Israel in battle, the glory of victory will not be his.  YHWH has decided to use women throughout this episode of judges to bring about liberation for Israel, “I will surely go with you; nevertheless, the road on which you are going will not lead to your glory, for the Lord will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman” (Judg. 4:9-10). The glory of course will be Deborah’s and Jael’s since they are truly the women who will accomplish the victory, “ The references to Sisera’s death at the hand of a woman states a number of principles in no uncertain terms. By stating that no glory will come to Barak because he would die at the hand of a woman, the text highlights what women should not be doing in the story where they did it.” [7] The emphasis that women will triumph over the enemies of Israel causes no response from Barak, there seems to be an obedience to Deborah’s words, the narrative gives no defense to the fact that she is a woman, neither is there any animosity that a woman will be the conqueror, yet the focus of woman in the text shows an underlying issue which seems to be to the contrary, “Women should not be capturing the opponents military commander. When women fight in battles men lose glory. The implications is that men, or especially Israelite men, fought for glory or renown, not, as Deborah stated because the deity commanded it.”[8]

Living | Angelina Jolie on Family, Film & Philanthropy | Vicki Woods & Mario Testino | Vogue US December 2010

Writer Vicki Woods did a superb job of creating a multi-dimensional Angelina Jolie in the Vogue interview. Did you know that Jolie has a “seriously filty laught”. Her piece is great writing about a woman much admired a AOC.

It was Angelina Jolie’s Esquire interview that launched Anne of Carversville in June 2007. The themes of that essay, including our collective global responsibility not only for dialogue, but understanding of global issues that promote warring points of view, remain richly embedded in our editorial policy.

A humanist, Anne wept over the beheading of Wall Street reporter Daniel Pearl, who was taken hostage in Karachi, Pakistan, following a story.

Jolie became friends with Daniel Pearl’s wife Mariane Van Neyenhoff, who channeled her grief into a positive dialogue with Muslims through the Daniel Pearl Foundation. The two bonded when Angelina played Mariane in “The Mighty Heart”.

Ironically, it seems that Mariane Pearl also read the Esquire 2007 interview, because Pearl contacted the actress about playing her in the movie.
