Amanda Gorman and Kennedi Carter Make Fashion Joy in Porter Edit July 26, 2021 AOC Fashion

Carter shot Simone Biles for Glamour Magazine’s June cover story, and now she roars in with Amanda Gorman in tow. Not too shabby Ms. Carter. It makes AOC feel really, really great about all this Black Girl Magic.
In her Porter Edit interview with Kadish Morris, Gordan speaks about her upcoming honor as co-chair of the Met Gala, Monday September 13, sharing duties with Billie Eilish, Naomi Osaka and Timothée Chalamet.
Gorman is decisive about wanting to fuse a long-lasting bridge between poets and writers and the fashion industry.
“I think this is really groundbreaking. I’m even more enthusiastic to see all the other writers and poets who may grace that red carpet in the future. And I hope that, when you see my look, you can feel what I’m saying loud and clear.”
Expanding on her use of fashion as a communication vehicle, Gorman says:
“I love playing with ways in which I can celebrate my Black heritage through fashion, so I made the intentional choice to wear my hair natural, to wear braids, to wear a headband as a point of pride.” How does she define her own style? “It’s like describing your own voice,” she laughs. “But, if I had to describe my style, I would say that it’s how I feel on the inside. I love clothing that feels young and vibrant and hopeful, but also thoughtful and pensive.”
I will be dead before tiring of hearing Amanda Gorman’s Inauguration Day poem ‘The Hill We Climb.’ It’s all so difficult right now, and we are afraid of Trumpers winning and extinguishing any hope of making America a true democracy. So I turn to Amanda to fortify my spirit, convinced that America can truly become a representative democracy for all its citizens. Her words never fail to grab me by the shoulders with the message that we must press onwards. What a divine human being. ~ Anne
