Across the country, festivals that help to define the fabric of America are being put on hold or canceled. We read in Obama-Mania news that the state of California is teetering on the verge of a massive bankruptcy.

This Wall Street Journal article reminds us that the effects of the country’s economic woes reach into the fabric of our daily lives. Losing out on these festivals has long-term implications as volunteers scatter to create other priorities in their lives.
