Masters of Style: Celebrating the Stories behind Italian Fashion Somerset House

To mark the 150th anniversary of Italy’s unification, ‘Masters of Style’ brings together six of Italy’s most influential fashion houses to celebrate the stories behind Italian fashion. Looking at defining moments from their advertising campaigns, Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Ferragamo, Gucci, Missoni and Prada will showcase a personally hand-picked selection of images from their collections and archives, bringing to life iconic style moments and offering an insight into the passion and influences behind their work.

This exhibition is curated by Peroni Nastro Azzurro in partnership with fashion commentator Colin McDowell and Somerset House.

Serpentine Auction to Raise Millions at Sotheby’s ArtLyst

Artists including Gilbert & George, Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami Chris Ofili, Richard Prince, Paula Rego and Cindy Sherman are predicted to raise unprecedented funds for the new Serpentine Sackler Gallery on 30 June.

The Serpentine Sackler Gallery, opening in 2012, will be renovated and designed by Pritzker-Prize winning architect Zaha Hadid. It is named in recognition of a transformative lead gift from the Dr Mortimer and Theresa Sackler Foundation.

This historic,1805 Grade II listed building in Kensington Gardens (The Magazine), will give new life and purpose to the former munitions store into an innovative public venue for contemporary culture, doubling the Serpentine’s programming space.

The Serpentine will present the best emerging international talent from the worlds of art, architecture, dance, design, fashion, film, literature, music, performance, science and technology. Commissioning new work will be at the heart of its mission.

In a few short weeks, the doors of iconic London fashion school Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design will shutter at 107-109 Charing Cross Road and move to new digs at King’s Cross. Central Saint Martins has most likely produced more creative talent for the fashion industry than any other institution. The story also clarifies that West never made a bid to study at the prestigious Central Saint Martens College of Art in London, as earlier reported. West has become ‘firm friends’ with Professor Louise Wilson, head of the MA fashion design degree at CSM.
