Naomi Campbell in 'There's only one Naomi' by Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia July 2008

Naomi Campbell in 'There's only one Naomi' by Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia July 2008 AOC Fashion

In July 2008, Vogue Italia produced its memorable ‘Black Issue’, an entire magazine devoted to Black beauty, under the adventurous and cultured editorial eye of EIC Franca Sozzani.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell appeared in a Steven Meisel uber-sumptuous and elegant fashion story ‘There’s only one Naomi’as a key feature of the collectible, treasured July issue.

Campbell was styled by her close friend, now British Vogue EIC Edward Enninful, who is also European editorial director of Vogue today. Mary Howard acted as set designer for this fantastic story, with makeup by Pat McGrath and hair by Guido.

At the time, Enninful was making waves at a top stylist at Vogue Italia, as Franca and Edward imagined one innovative fashion story after another. Neither American Vogue or British Vogue ever reached the intellectual acumen of Sozzani’s Vogue Italia.
