Naomi Campbell's Pilates Body Lensed By David Roemer For Evening Standard ES Magazine

Supermodel Naomi Campbell is very much back in the public eye these days, lensed here by David Roemer for London’s Evening Standard. Stylist Nathalie Riddle chooses signature sexy looks from Givenchy, Emilio Pucci and more for ‘No More Miss Nasty’. Read ES interview.

Naomi’s body is leaner than ever, thanks to her now-over relationship with Vladimir Doron, pilates and an incredibly strict diet. In her 2010 appearance on Oprah, Naomi volunteered that Vladimir didn’t permit her to eat bread and that she had learned to swim off his yacht, stating that previously she was too muscular to swim. Say what???

In April 2014 the Daily Mail ran a feature on Naomi’s morning workout, inspired by her Instagram Pilates snap. The bigger revelations came in her January 2014 Harper’s Bazaar interview. Reading it, there’s no doubt about the degree of self-discipline that Campbell brings to her daily routine:

5:00 A.M. When I’m in New York taping my show, The Face, I get up at five or six. When I’m not, I’d say nine. I don’t like alarms. I don’t like really sudden, loud noises; they make me jump. I wake up on my own. When I’ve had to put on an alarm, I always anticipate it, and I wake up before. The first thing I do is have hot water with lemon and probiotics. I’ve never drunk coffee; I don’t like the smell. I’m a tea drinker. If I need it I will have one cup of green tea. I’m more into herbal tea. After that I get up, take a shower, and then I have another set of drinks—one for the immune system and one with aloe. Then I do yoga or Pilates, and after, a big glass of green juice …

7:00 A.M. I go to the studio by SUV or Maserati. I catch up with phone calls and e-mails, things with Europe. Sometimes I read magazines in the car when my driver has them, but I actually prefer books. Right now I’m reading The Four Agreements, by Don Miguel Ruiz. I’m also reading Clean, by Alejandro Junger, this detox book that’s been around forever. It’s about how to take care of your body, what you put in your body. And then before I know it, I’m at the studio. During hair and makeup I continue to do my e-mails and calls and stuff like that and try and get them out of the way. I can’t keep the phone on when I’m on set. I have a BlackBerry and an iPhone; I just got the new ones. I have two dogs, a Malkie named Milo and a bulldog named Winston, but I don’t bring them to work because there are too many people around and too much going on and lots of cables—I don’t want them to eat anything from the floor. I do take my blanket, and walnuts, dates, apricots, lots of dried fruit, Smartwater, tea bags, a packed lunch. I just became a vegetarian, and I find it a little hard to figure out what to eat, so I just bring stuff from home. I went to this place where they teach you how to take care of your body and clean it inside and out. After that I decided I didn’t want to eat pork, chicken, or anything I felt was unhealthy. I never thought I would ever do it. It was just something I decided to do. I don’t know how long it’s going to last, but I feel lighter and just easier. I think once you clean your intestine, you wanna try and keep it clean. I do juice cleanses two or three times per week.

Note: a Google search today suggests that Naomi remains a vegetarian, although the vast majority of vegetarians return to eating meat with a year.
