Orion will re-enter the Earth’s atmosphere at a speed of 24,500 mph and then bounce off the Earth’s upper atmosphere like a stone skipping across water. This re-entry plan has several key benefits, including bleeding off speed and reducing the G-Force that Artemis astronauts in the future will experience.

Democracy Now and Ubuntu for All

To all who have suffered from political violence, racism, misogyny, antisemitism, homophobia and gun violence — ALL the innumerable, hateful atrocities that humans have inflicted on each other worldwide — this proud American dedicates the spirit of Artemis 1 to you — wherever you live in the world.

We must believe in American democracy now, more than ever. We must stiffen our backbones and fight, fight, fight against the MAGA and authoritarian forces trying to tear America and the world apart.

All good peoples who believe in the principles of American and global liberal democracies must hold hands and not let go of each other.

This is my message today, and always the message of Anne of Carversville, as Artemis reminds us of the glorious possibilities ahead of us.

Innumerable nations of the world made Artemis 1 possible scientifically. She is traveling towards the moon because of great minds and intellectual excellence from very diverse peoples around the globe. Today, the scientists have won the moment with the beauty and grandeur that is Artemis. Last week it was American voters across this great country who soared high to reject MAGA beliefs and falsehoods.
