Jourdan Dunn Was First Non-White Woman to Cover British Vogue in 12 Years | Now Dunn Strikes Again

THEN: Last week the fashion world celebrated model Jourdan Dunn’s cover girl status, lensed by Patrick Demarchelier for British Vogue’s February 2015 issue. Dunn’s cover is the first for any model of color in 12 years.

The last Black — or Latina or Arab or Indian or Asian — model to cover British Vogue was Naomi Campbell in August 2002.

Kate Phelan styles Jourdan Dunn as the ‘urban cool’ girl at home in London, New York, Milan, Paris, Sydney or Mumbai.

NOW: This week Jourdan Dunn owns a worldwide, fashion first; and it’s her own crown-worthy moment in the spotlight. Harper’s Bazaar UK [IG] travels to the ancient Castle of Mey in Caithness, Scotland for its June 2024 cover story.

Dunn is the first model to be photographed at the castle, and the experience is deeply personal to her. Lydia Slater interviews the supermodel, who reveals that growing up, her gran loved the Queen Mother.

The two women even shared the same birthday, so to have her Black beauty granddaughter being the first model ever to be photographed at the ancient Castle of Mey in Caithness, Scotland would probably “have been her proudest thing”, says Dunn.
