The world is 100 days out from opening day of the 2024 Paris Olympics — and the magic is building. Having gone through the Vogue France website top to bottom, AOC found nothing about the Paris Olympics. Nothing. Nothing on IG either. They are over the moon, though, with bob haircuts.

Oh well, Vogue Paris is long dead and Vogue Australia’s April 2024 issue is happy to do their part promoting the City of Lights, loved deeply by so many of us.

‘From a Land Down Under’ calls the entire world to hop on Aussie model Angelina Kendall’s magic carpet for the 25 hrs flight from SYD to CDG. Whoosh! Kendall is lensed at the Australian Embassy in Paris by Juergen Teller [IG]

Olympic Security Concerns in Paria

Not to be Debbie Downer, but I checked this morning to verify my memory that it was Palestinian terrorists who massacred two members of the Israeli team at the Munich games in 1972. Confirmed.

French president Emmanuel Macron says the spectacular Opening Ceremony on the Seine has a backup plan in the case of significant concerns of a terrorist attack. Actually, there’s not only a plan B but also a plan C.

French officials have long boasted an estimated live at the Seine crowd of 600,000 attending the Opening Ceremony. In early March, that number was cut in half. 45,000 police officers will be on duty in Paris for the 16-days long event. 2500 foreign security experts [and the world’s best sharpshooters] from all over the world will also be monitoring every Parisian streetcorner, every open window from beginning to end of what will hopefully be a glorious games.

Juergen Teller’s iPhone Magic

Juergen Teller shot the fashion story on his iPhone, his first for Vogue Australia. Edwina McCann, editorial director and publisher News Prestige and Conde Nast titles Australia, told press that Juergen Teller is the “the most exhibited fashion photographer in the world.”

Earlier this year, Teller’s work was on view in the exhibition ‘I need to live,’ at the Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris and the Triennale Milano. In December 2023, he also released five books: Fashion Photography for America 1999–2016, Jurgaičiai, More Handbags, The Myth, and the catalogue of I need to live. Plus, on February 28th, his book of campaign and editorial images with Saint Laurent’s creative director Anthony Vaccarello debuted during Paris Fashion Week.

Critics, Teller told the Wall Street Journal, “think of me as being this kind of snapshot quick, blah blah blah photographer, and you know, there’s a lot of thinking involved.”
