Supermodel Imaan Hammam takes two covers for the August 2023 issue of ELLE USA. Imaan wears bralette and earrings from Fendi Couture above with a corset from New York Vintage. The second cover below features Imaan wearing an Armani Prive black gown with Van Cleef & Arpels necklace.
Leah Faye Cooperinterviews Hammam in her Brooklyn apartment during Ramadan, explaining how 2023 is a year for her to connect more deeply with her Muslim faith. Imaan is not only fasting by day but also not working.
The very top model became an Estée Lauder Global Brand Ambassador in May, and she reports fainting on the set during Ramadan 2022. “They’d be having you doing so much on these shoots, girl. It’s like dancing, jumping around, running—and then there’s a room for TikTok, doing all these TikTok videos….”
Skims co-founders Kim Kardashian and CEO Jens Grede have confirmed a new $4 billion valuation for the company, after raising $270 million in a new Series C funding round.
Skims was previously valued at $3.2 million.
The new capital investment was led by Wellington Management and also includes funds from Greenoaks Capital Partners and existing partners D1 Capital Partners and Imaginary Ventures.
Mr. Grede has confirmed that Skims anticipates sales of about $750 million in 2023, up from $500 million in 2022. About 15 percent of its online customers come from outside the United States.

Kendall Jenner and L’Oreal have shared the announcement that the top model and B-Corp entrepreneur has been named L’Oréal Paris’ newest global ambassador.
When Kendall shared her WSJ Magazine terrific images and interview early in June, AOC did extra homework to unearth the important to us — and I daresay L’Oreal — fact that Jenner’s 818 Tequila brand is a B-Corp.
Kendall’s first L’Oreal campaign will be in makeup, with a September 2023 launch. Both parties issued the expected press releases.
Model Julie Hoomans adds another fashion story ‘Bagagem Emocional’ to Vogue Portugal’s June 2023 ‘Voyage’ issue. The dog collar necklace with Hoomans walking the dogs has me smiling. Stylists have the opportunity to use lots more wit when given the green light by editors. Stylist Alicia Padrón’s small globe in Hoomans’ hand is also a nice touch — with pink Samsonite luggage, along with Gucci Valigeria.
Photographer Mara Alonso [IG] captures the quiet adrenalin rush, in a time when young women suddenly were no longer tied to ironing boards. Seventy years later, American women are still fighting the battle for agency over our own lives.
We complete the third fashion story featuring Wang Wenqin in Marie Claire China’s [IG]August 2023 cover story sequence. Wenqin is styled by Austin Feng for images by Nick Yang [IG]. Many people are speaking of the impressive content coming out of China media this month.
Harper’s Bazaar Italia’s [IG] July 2023 ‘Flowing 04’ [movement] issue adds another fashion story ‘Summer Breeze’ — focused on impeccable tailoring and quiet luxury colors —to its summer portfolio. Burberry’s [IG] Winter 2023 campaign is out, lensed by Tyrone Lebon [IG] in Scotland’s Isle of Skye and Northern Ireland’s Giant’s Causeway.
About the cow . . .
AOC needs to make one small point. We are thrilled with the cow, and the speed with which Burberry delivered it. It was only Monday in writing about Daniel Lee’s second Resort 2024 collection, that we brought up cows for Burberry. Voila! We have a cow.
It’s great but . . .. . . it was cows in relation to the Burberry dandelion print revised to a daffodil. Because we are promoting a great climate change study with cows and daffodils.

Boston-based investment firm Wellington Management is in talks to lead a new round of funding for SKIMS, led by Kim Kardashian and Jens Grede, Skims CEO and co-founder.
Reports are that the financial math currently on the table would establish a financial valuation for SKIMS of $4 billion. Assumptions are that this would be the final round of fundraising before an initial public offering that could come in about a year.

Embracing her faux French roots without behaving like an imposter, it’s perfectly natural — even logical — that Sporty & Rich finds itself in an exciting collaboration with one of the world’s most important destinations — Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc Antibes.
Sporty & Rich is not just a fashion brand; it represents a lifestyle that seamlessly blends athleticism, wellness and luxury. At its core, the brand embraces the belief that being active and maintaining physical fitness should not compromise one's sense of style or desire for clothes with an attitude of luxury.
Canadian-born, New York-based founder Emily Oberg has a sixth-sense for brand DNA and pedigree, and she plays her hand expertly — choosing a name like Sporty & Rich for her brand, but not falling down the rabbit hole of vapid pretentiousness.
